So this is the last week before a month-long hiatus for the MLB playoffs before Prison Break returns on October 30th. The good thing is that this week was a good one. We’ve seen a few deaths with Veronica and Abruzzi getting killed off, but this week we have a pair of deaths to characters that have had an impact this season. For Haywire fans out there, he makes his second appearance in a row (although I have no idea what he’s doing). Lastly we get to see what they are going to do with Tweener now that Agent Mahone has caught him.

We start off this week’s episode with the gang holding a woman hostage with a police woman quickly approaching the house. It turns out that the police woman is the daughter of the hostage and she’s only there to check on her mother. The good thing is that there are 5 of them to take her down easily. Where was C-Note in all of this anyway? Still digging while Sucre and Lincoln went to help Michael and T-Bag?

Agent Mahone begins to interrogate Tweener and tries to get him to reveal where they are digging while offering him a comfortable next four years in a minimum security prison. He continues to explain a little bit of the mysterious Oscar Shales and how he kept tracking him down while trying to make Tweener turn on his buddies. Pretty smart interrogation technique, but Tweener refuses to give them up. We still don’t really know why Mahone started carrying around those little Mentos, but “these little guys” seem to be effective.

For the first death since Abruzzi “took one for the team” a few episodes back, Governor Tancredi appears to be hanged to death shortly before Sara arrives to check on him. There really doesn’t seem to be any doubt that he was deliberately killed though. He did leave a mysterious key behind with the mark of a crown on it. Definately seems like there might be a connection to finding his killer.

Meanwhile, we see Haywire again and he’s really doing nothing except “sailing to Holland”. What is the guy doing? Will he ever have an integral part of the story as he had in season 1? (he was never even that important) Looks like he found a new buddy with the dog from the store though.

Just as they are about to finally get away with the money that they’ve been working for all this time, Sucre holds everyone hostage leaving us to wait a whole month thinking about what’s going to happen next. One million dollars not enough for him? Fortunately (or unfortunately) Lincoln has already left to get LJ after being released by a member of “The Company”, but he’s walking right into a trap for sure.

As the episode winds down, we find out what really happened to Oscar Shales and how derranged Agent Mahone really is. Apparently Shales was already killed by Mahone and he does the exact same thing to Tweener and kills him rather than send him to prison. Strangely enough he decides to blow out his car window rather than bring Tweener to a different area to kill him. This marks the second of the Fox River Eight to be killed by Mahone leaving Michael, Lincoln, T-Bag, C-Note, Sucre, and Haywire. This really makes Mahone one of the “bad guys” in the show even more than before.

This episode has probably been the most exhilarating one of the season so far. With multiple deaths and numerous points of deception, you never really know when the writers will kill off another character (it’s getting to be as shocking as the ones in 24, but not at their level yet). I’m especially looking forward to how Agent Mahone will continue Michael’s trail and if Sara Tancredi will figure out what all those paper cranes mean. The good thing about taking a hiatus is that now I have lots of time to write the upcoming recaps for Lost Season 3 so look out for them coming soon.
