2009 NBA Draft

So the Knicks and Nets were both back in the NBA Draft lottery and will be picking 8th and 11th respectively this year (”What else is new” in a My Cousin Vinny voice).  I’m hoping the Knicks get someone decent because let’s face it, the team stinks.  My guess is they’ll try to pick up a guard because in D’antoni’s offense, they need people that can shoot the ball.  Unless Thabeet magically falls down to them, I think Stephen “Chucker” Curry is the pick (you know, the guy that took 14 3s in a loss to Maryland in the 2007 NCAA Tournament).  If he’s not there, then they should pick Tyreke Evans.  I would have said Greivis Vasquez, but he decided to go back to Maryland for another year.

As for the Nets, I think they need a meaty-type guy.  Someone that is twice as thick as Yi Jianlian would do, and that person is DeJuan Blair.  It’s a little bit of a reach, but there’s nobody except Blake Griffin that can rebound the ball as good as Blair.  If they pick him, they can shift Yi to the SF spot and Harris/Carter/Yi/Blair/Lopez can be their starting 5.

Anyway, here’s my mock draft of the lottery teams since everyone’s doing one of these.

  1. Los Angeles Clippers - Blake Griffin
  2. Memphis Grizzlies - Hasheem Thabeet
  3. Oklahoma City Thunder - James Harden
  4. Sacramento Kings - Ricky Rubio
  5. Minnesota Timberwolves (from Washington) - Tyreke Evans
  6. Minnesota Timberwolves - DeMar DeRozan
  7. Golden State Warriors - Jrue Holiday
  8. New York Knicks - Stephen Curry
  9. Toronto Raptors - Jonny Flynn
  10. Milwaukee Bucks - James Johnson
  11. New Jersey Nets - DeJuan Blair
  12. Charlotte Bobcats - Ty Lawson
  13. Indiana Pacers - Brandon Jennings
  14. Phoenix Suns - Jordan Hill

  • Performed 40 pushups in exhaustion test. Did the exhaustion test, but now my left wrist hurts again. #
  • Performed 50 situps in exhaustion test. Rated on the edge of “Good”. I guess I’m jumping straight to Week 3. #
  • Started a tracker on Google Finance of several different mutual funds. Going to watch them for a bit and decide where to invest. #

Recent Games

So recently I’ve gotten back into playing my Xbox 360 a little bit after picking up Tales of Vesperia, Burnout Paradise, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker during Gamestop’s buy 2 get 1 free promotion last week.  Hopefully that’s the last of the games I’m picking up for a while because I’ve been piling them up over the past year or so.  I’m going to have to bring the Wii back up to my office to finish those games.  Anyway, I’m finding that both the Xbox 360 games are quite good (haven’t gotten to Wind Waker yet).

As for the PC, I’ve been getting back into playing Starcraft and Age of Empires III and putting Left 4 Dead (a bit angry that Valve is releasing Left 4 Dead 2 so soon) and Team Fortress 2 aside.  I’ve forgotten how fun RTS games are and am now very excited for Starcraft II.  So far we’re mostly playing against the computer and getting better very quickly.  I’m probably going to be trying out the Xfire broadcasting feature, so you might see me doing that online in the near future.

I forgot I capped this clip, but it’s from the Magic vs. Cavs series.  I’m really looking for the Magic to pull out game 2 tonight.
