Twitter Weekly Updates for 2010-01-31

  • Eating 小籠包 for lunch! First time in 2 months. ^_^ #
  • On my way home today, I got a traffic light with an amazing 1 second red light interval. Didn’t even get to stop before it turned green. #
  • Gah! Someone didn’t follow instructions and cut into the brownies when they weren’t completely cool yet! #
  • Oh no, I forgot 24 was on tonight. Now I have to avoid spoilers all day at work tomorrow until I get to watch it. #
  • Just finished cooking five-spice pork chops and chicken noodle soup. #
  • Made it through the day without a 24 spoiler. Unfortunately it was an awful episode. #
  • Well this is surprising, 2 Chinese women into the semis and the Williams sisters getting beaten up at the Australian Open. #
  • Hmm what would I rather have CNBC show right now. Boring congressional hearings or the Apple tablet event? #
  • Comparison of the iPad vs. other devices. http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/9/2010/01/sizechartlong.jpg #
  • Humorous question I’ve seen recently: How will people in Boston differentiate between the iPod and the iPad in a conversation? #
  • Yay snow! #
  • Just saw 2 car accidents on the same road, going in opposite directions, 50 feet apart from each other. Traffic wasn’t too bad though. #
  • Heard a guy on the radio today getting confused between an area with a “5 mile radius” and “5 square miles”. Quite amusing. #
  • When it seems that everyone is leaving the office early, it’s like a mini vacation…except I get to stay until the end of the day. #
  • It’s a Sherlock Holmes (streaming) night! Get your popcorn ready! #
  • Eating a coconut bun for breakfast. #
  • Got a sword from my dad to defend myself if anyone attacks me in my room…and to hang up as a decoration on my wall. #

Twitter Weekly Updates for 2010-01-24

  • What’s that sound? The sound of Aliens (the second in the Alien series of movies)! There had better be more aliens this time or else… #

  • Clutch win for the Jets! #
  • Didn’t realize it before, but working from home is so much more difficult than actually being in the office. #
  • Time for an energy boost, mmm Espresso Chip ice cream… #
  • So impressed with Aliens (and the quantity of aliens) the other night, that it’s time for Alien 3! #
  • I’m convinced that everyone would be happier if they only had to work 4 days a week, even if they had to work a couple more hours a day. #
  • Finishing up Alien 3, started falling asleep 30 minutes in after watching 2 hours of 24 last night. #
  • Enjoying a nice cup of hot chocolate in the morning. #
  • Just finished eating some bow-tie pasta with sauteed onions and spicy ground turkey. #
  • Was disappointed in Alien 3, but I’m giving the series another chance and watching the 4th movie: Alien Resurrection. #
  • Somehow I got a blister on my knuckle from knocking on doors. At least the Office is back with a new episode tonight! #
  • Found it amusing when I heard people in the next room over yelling at the TV when Obama was speaking. #
  • Eating some Swedish Fish while finishing up work for the week. #
  • Just came back from my car inspection. Much faster service and nicer people than I had expected. #
  • Eating a sweet topping red bean bun for breakfast. #
  • Cooked some fried rice and made up my own dish of ground turkey, napa cabbage (ran out of my usual vegetables), and black bean sauce. #

Twitter Weekly Updates for 2010-01-17

  • Walking around the wonderful world of NYC today…in 25 degree weather. #
  • Found that I had a hidden gallon of milk that is about to expire. Having cereal for every meal now. #
  • Thinking of making Almond Jello tonight with some of that excess milk. Probably has been 15 years since my Grandmother last made it for us. #
  • As I walked up to the office this morning, everyone is walking out. Almost thought they were coming to greet me, but it was a fire alarm. #
  • Was sifting through so many papers at work today that I got 3 paper-cuts on the same finger. #
  • Off to the library for some Seinfeld trivia…and possibly a $50 Amazon gift card! #
  • Only got 3rd place in the Seinfeld trivia, but I got this neat Seinfeld Trivia Game to take home. The questions were REALLY difficult. #
  • Watching the 1979 movie Alien for the first time. Almost a half-hour in and still no aliens. #
  • Second movie of the night…My Cousin Vinny! One of my favorites! #
  • Oh my, I turned on the TV and they were showing the classic Power Rangers show on ABC. Still looks good for a 15+ year old show. #
  • From one classic to another, the Karate Kid is on VH1 right now. #
  • Need to bring in my car for it’s first inspection, but they’re only open when I’m at work or Saturday morning…guess I’m waiting a week. #

Twitter Weekly Updates for 2010-01-10

  • Just got back from Maryland. Weather this cold deserves at least a couple inches of snow. Good thing I’m cooking red bean soup tonight. #

  • Mmm red bean soup and cake… #
  • Yay my sore throat is almost gone. #
  • Finally got a replacement Dish Network satellite receiver and it doesn’t even work. #
  • Only 1″ of snow is on the way tonight. Quite disappointing I have to say. #
  • Thinking of getting an iPod Touch 3G, but I don’t want to switch from Winamp to iTunes. #
  • Forgot to go to sleep at a decent hour. Now I’m hungry and I already brushed my teeth. #
  • Quality win for the Jets tonight! I’m liking this Rex Ryan, quite a jolly fellow. #

New Year’s Update

It’s been quite a while since I posted a real blog update.  Instead I’ve let Twitter Tools do the work and gather everything from my Twitter account, which has worked out pretty well.  Or it could be that I’m too lazy to sit down and collectively write down my thoughts.  Not that I’m actually thinking about anything worthwhile in my opinion, but apparently I have nothing better to do in the mean time.  I was going to cook red bean soup (紅豆湯) tonight except for the simple fact that I didn’t soak the beans beforehand, so that will have to wait until tomorrow.  Quite disappointed about that because it’s freezing in here.

One of the things I like to do each year is take a picture of my home office.  It’s like those people that take a picture of themselves every day of the year, but at a much higher interval.  Now that I look at the transition from last year, it looks generally the same.  I’m not Vern Yip so it’s not an interior design masterpiece.   At the very least it’s relatively neat.  The chair certainly needs an upgrade and by the end of the year I hope to build another PC.

What’s exciting is that the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver (Feb 12th) and Chinese New Year (Feb 14th) are coming up at the same time.  The Olympics are always exciting (especially the last one in Beijing), but I’ve always believed that Chinese New Year is more meaningful than the “standard” Gregorian New Year.  I’m sure I’ll have something interesting to say (and maybe some pictures of my cooking) when the time comes a month from now.  Anyway, Happy New Year and good luck to the NY Jets who went to the playoffs as I typed this up!
