Photo Friday

Some of you might have heard of Photo Friday, most of you probably have not. Basically it’s a site that posts a new theme every friday and people submit their photos relating the the theme to the website. This week’s theme is “Automotive”, so for the first time in about 6 months I’m submitting a picture there (mostly because I apparently don’t take a wide enough variety of photos). Anyway, it’s a pretty fun site as long as the theme fits whatever photos you have.  I host all my photos over at the Sealhat Gallery, so everyone can see my Photo Friday pics as well as ones submitted by my brother (you might also notice the world famous “thumbs up” gallery in there as well).

Going Down to Maryland

So this weekend I’m going be driving my brother’s car down to Maryland to help him move into his new apartment. We’re leaving early Saturday morning so we can get there before the 12 noon to pick up his keys and we’ll stay overnight to buy supplies and other apartment related materials. On Sunday night, I’m going to take the Amtrak back to New Jersey, but hopefully I’ll have enough video material left so I won’t get too bored (are a few episodes of Doctor Who, Eureka Seven, and Justice League Unlimited enough?). Anyway, I’m taking my camera with me to take pics, so watch for a new picture album coming soon.

[Update 6.11.06]

After leaving at 6:12 AM on Saturday morning, we finally arrived in Germantown, MD at around 10:30 AM, quite a marathon car drive. Fortuantely they were having a free BBQ at the pool and we got a nice catered lunch from Famous Dave’s. After moving all the stuff from both cars, we went over to Costco to pick up a table, a microwave, pot / steamer, and some other food stuffs. At night we mostly had to sleep on / in sleeping bags, comforters, and old couch cushions because we didn’t have any beds. I think I might have gotten sick, since now I have a sore throat and my voice is scratchy.

Driving to Maryland

The next morning, we drove over to Rockville to find out how good the Chinese restaurants and grocery stores are. I’d say I was impressed considering I go to the NYC chinatown every month or so and there are a good deal of chinese restaurants and supermarkets up here in NJ. After picking up some more food supplies in College Park, I headed home while my parents will stay down in Maryland for another two days. As usual, I took the College Park Metro to Union Station and took Amtrak up to Philadelphia and transferred to another train to Princeton Junction in West Windsor, NJ. My mom’s friend Millie picked me up and gave me a ride home. Check the photos of my journey up in my gallery :).

UMD Spring 2006 Graduation

So I finally got back home late Monday night and didn’t have a chance to put up the pics quickly, but as promised, here are some pictures at I took during both the general graduation for all students and the specific graduation for computer science graduates. The first graduation was so crowded that the only person I could actually find was my brother (planned rendezvous point), but really nobody else. We also got there a little late so I ended up taking most of the general graduation shots from the upper-deck far far away from the students.

The second graduation was a little bit better in terms of traffic, but we had to rush a bit at the end, so I couldn’t take pictures or meet everyone. Overall, I was a bit disappointed that they put the Computer Science graduates in the dusty, old Armory instead of the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center like I had mine in. I guess mostly it’s because there wouldn’t be enough space to hold everyone, but they should have picked some place with better acoustics. All of the pics are located in the Gallery (two albums, one for the individual graduation, one for the general graduation). Anyway, hopefully you guys enjoy the pics!
